Chapter 6

Harrison

Waking up with Daisy beside me is immediately addicting. Her soft curves rest against my side, my arm wrapped around her while she sleeps.

Of course, it’s early in the morning. Normally, I’d already be up and dressed, getting ready to do chores. But today, the animals can wait an hour for their food. I’m feeling a little hungry myself. Last night didn’t put out the desire I have for Daisy. If anything, it stoked them even higher. She consumes me, and all I want is more.

I shift beside her, sliding down the bed and pulling the blankets with me.

“Harrison,” she murmurs sleepily.

“Don’t worry, sweetheart. Let me take care of you.” I sprinkle kisses along her chest, then continue down over her enticingly rounded belly until I reach the apex of her thighs. Gently but firmly, I make space between her legs. I pull her legs over my shoulders and take a deep breath.

“You smell so good. And you’re going to taste even better.” Daisy is slowly coming out of sleep, but with my first taste she wakes up, at least enough to spear her fingers through my hair.

“God, Harrison. Don’t stop,” she whimpers, giving me permission to take what I want. And what I want is her. Her sweet juices, her delirious pleasure, her taste on my mouth this morning and every morning for the rest of my life.

I lick, suck, tickle, and tease—my hands grasped firmly on her thighs—until she’s writhing above me.

“Harrison!” she cries out as her body shudders, exploding with delicious release.

Kissing my way back up her body, I tuck in beside her and wait for her breathing to calm.

“Go back to sleep, sweetheart,” I say quietly.

“But what about you?” she whispers, her eyes already closing.

“I’m alright,” I reassure her. “I’m going to get up and do the chores.”

“Mmmhmm,” she mumbles.

With one last kiss on her forehead, I get out of bed. It takes just a few minutes for me to get dressed and ready for the day. I’m standing in the kitchen and finishing my coffee when my phone rings. It’s Abigail.

My adrenaline surges as I swipe to take the call. It’s unlike her to call so early in the morning unless something is seriously wrong.

“Abigail, is everything okay?”

“Oh, Dad. I don’t know what to do,” she says, and I can hear a little bit of panic in her voice.

“What happened?”

“Yesterday, mom introduced me to her new fiancé!” Abigail wails over the phone. “I don’t know what to do. It’s like as soon as I went to college, she got a whole new life. Like I’m no one to her.”

That my ex got engaged is news to me. Not that it bothers me. We’ve barely talked in years, and then, it was mostly about making sure Abigail had what she needed.

“I’m sure that’s not true. Your mother loves you,” I say, trying to calm her down.

“Then why didn’t she tell me she was dating this guy?” she asks, and then continues without waiting for my response.
